Anger & Assertiveness Therapy Group for Women
For women who would like to develop and improve conflict resolution skills, or who have experienced trauma, abuse or bullying either as an adult, teen or child.
- Learn how to own and acknowledge your needs, desires, and respect yourself
- Know how to assert yourself while respecting the rights of others in a range of personal and work relationships
- Develop skills to manage anger, fear, blaming and shame
- Recover and heal from past or present traumatic abuse and bullying
- Learn how to attract, choose and maintain healthy friendships
- Feel confident and competent in your personal, school and business relationships.
Assertiveness is the respectful expression of one’s thoughts, feelings and attitudes from a position of natural authority while also respecting the rights of others. Learning to communicate in a clear, honest and responsible way is essential for successful communication. Knowing how to maintain good boundaries and hold your ground enhances self-esteem, builds confidence, and promotes healthier, more satisfying personal and work relationships.
Women face unique challenges in experiencing and expressing aggressiveness in themselves and others. This dilemma requires attention to differences in growing up male and growing up female in one’s particular past and current social and cultural environments. Identifying and respecting differences is an important skill in managing and expressing emotions more effectively.
The group provides a safe, confidential place for women to share and witness each other’s successes and challenges, and to practice new skills while developing a positive sense of respect for self and others. Diversity –age, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, religion, social class, life experience– in the composition of the group is valued.
